Bright Start’s founder Janet Breeden started providing childcare in the 1960s and by 1970 was an in-home daycare provider with 6 children. After being a daycare provider for over 20 years Bright Start started operating as a Daycare Facility with 12 children in 1994. With the help of her daughter Julie Breeden-Bound, an increase in demand for childcare, and her love for children Janet and Julie went back to school to be able to begin operating as a Daycare Center with a capacity of 47 children which then received licensing for 59 children. After many years, Bright Start expanded once again in 2009 by opening Bright Start II, a pre-school that prepares many children for 1st grade. As Jefferson County has continued to grow, so has Bright Start Learning Center by once again expanding in 2023. 20 years after opening as a Center, Bright Start added an addition to better serve the growing need of quality care for infants and toddlers.
